Özet: Abstract In the historical process, societies has evolved into more complex social structures with the effect of changes in technology, culture, ideologies, etc. Developments in physical sciences and technology have developed very quickly, on the other hand changes in social sciences and culture have not progressed at the same pace. However, as a whole history has shown, it is not possible for neither physical sciences nor socio-economic developments to find their place without the development of social sciences. For this reason, in this article, it is primarily emphasized that science and social sciences should be based on solid foundations, taking into account scientific approaches. Subsequently, the views of some important theorists and thinkers were also included, and the function of social sciences in terms of social development was tried to be explained with the richness that different approaches brought to the world of thought. At the same time, by drawing attention to the changes in societies, the relationship and interaction of social sciences with these changes has been tried to be explained. It is the aim of the article to evaluate the function of social sciences in terms of social development through in-depth examinations and analyzes in the lines here. In order to have a healthy social development, social sciences developed on a healthy basis are needed. This situation explains how important the article on the subject is in terms of raising awareness. In this study, literature review method was used. The studied theories and approaches were tried to be strengthened by the literature review method, interpretation and analysis.
