Özet: LITERATURE 1.1. RESEARCH PURPOSE This study aims to analyze whistleblowing articles in local literature through bibliometrics. For this purpose, reached 77 articles till 01.01.2020 are subjected to a bibliometric analysis in terms of “years”, “translation words used for “whistleblowing” word”, “whether the articles are empirical or not”, “titles of authors”, “universities” and “departments” of academician authors, “journals” and “whether these journals are indexed in Tr Ulakbim index since 2019 or not”. Also, “abstracts” of these articles are examined by “content analysis”. 1.2. CONTRIBUTION of the ARTICLE to the LITERATURE When the local literature is searched, there is just one research (Demirci ve Erigüç, 2019) which covers 27 studies made on “health sciences” on the subject “whistleblowing”. It is examined by “content analysis”. This study is designed and aimed to draw a scientific framework on “whistleblowing” in local literature covering all disciplines as management and organization, finance, education, law, communication and health sciences. Also, it is differentiated from the relevant study by using both bibliometric analysis and content analysis to point out the bibliometric profile of the whistleblowing articles. The framework drawn up in line with all the criteria examined in the research may give an idea to researchers who want to study on “whistleblowing” subject about what kind of studies should be carried out in future studies on this subject. DESIGN AND METHOD Bibliometric studies are essential in terms of revealing the development process of focused subjects in the fields over the years, identifying deficiencies and problems related to the field. They also help researchers to gain a holistic view of the subject. Bibliometrics plays a role as a guide to researchers and opens up new perspectives and provides opportunities for more qualified studies (Broadus, 1987; Kırbeşoğlu et al., 2015; Üsdiken ve Pasadeos, 1992; ). Obtained 77 articles which were published until 01.01.2020 are subjected to a bibliometric analysis in terms of some criteria such as “years”, “translation words for whistleblowing word”, “whether the articles obtained are empirical or not” and “titles of authors”. In addition “university and department affiliation of the academician authors”, “journals in which they were published” and “whether if these journals have been indexed in Tr Ulakbim index since 2019 or not” are used as criteria. Additionally, “summary” sections of these articles are examined by “content analysis”. Also, the articles are subjected to a general evaluation in terms of “article titles”. FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION Some of the general findings of bibliometric analysis can be listed as follows: “Whistleblowing” word was translated into Turkish by 22 different words. The most preferred translation word that was used is “bilgi uçurma”. 19 articles are conceptual and do not include empirical research, while 58 of them include. All obtained articles are written totally by 119 different authors. Fifteen authors have written more than one article on “whistleblowing” while 13 of them are academicians. The authors (15) who have published more than one article about the subject, published 38 articles of reached 77 articles in total. This finding shows that nearly half of the articles are written by these 15 authors. The titles of authors of 77 articles on “whistleblowing” are mostly “Assist. Prof. Dr.”(30 authors). When it is searched if the journals, obtained 77 articles published in, are indexed in Tr Ulakbim index since the beginning of 2019, it is found that more than half of the articles are published in journals indexed in Tr Ulakbim index. Also, it is found that the authors of 77 articles are mostly the members of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Results show that there are many articles about “whistleblowing” in different disciplines (especially “business administration” and “educational sciences”) which shows that whistleblowing is a multi-disciplinary concept. It is also remarkable that even “whistleblowing” subject started to evolve since 2003 in the local literature, some recent “whistleblowing” articles written in 2017, 2018 and 2019 continue to explain what “whistleblowing” is. With the content analysis of summary sections of “whistleblowing” articles, the subjects that are focused on and not studied at all are revealed. It is achieved that “whistleblowing” is mostly studied about “ethics” (totally nine articles) and “ethics-related” subjects as “ethical climate” and “ethical organizational culture” in local literature. “Organizational justice” (6 articles), “culture” (4 articles), and “organizational commitment” (4 articles) subjects follow up this ranking. In so many studies, whistleblowing subject is evaluated by itself (just one topic). The other subjects studied in relation with “whistleblowing” subject in terms of management and organization science are “organizational silence”, “organizational citizenship behaviour”, “individual values”, “leadership”, “social responsibility”, “nepotism”, “mobbing”, “burnout”, “organizational communication”, “organizational identification”, “organizational support”, “personnel empowerment” and “personality traits”. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS Compared by years, it is seen that the highest number of articles on “whistleblowing” has been published in recent years and it can be interpreted as “whistleblowing” subject has gained popularity in the local literature in recent years. It is also seen that repeating conceptual studies had been continuing to be written, especially in the last years, even the first article about whistleblowing had been published in 2003. It is also seen that whistleblowing is a multi-discipliner concept by including articles written in different disciplines like management, finance, education, health, communication and law sciences. There is no “university” and “journal” focus on “whistleblowing” although there are journals in international literature which publish articles about ethics-related topics like whistleblowing or organizational dissent such as “Journal of Business Ethics”. The results also show that the most focused subjects in whistleblowing articles are ethics, organizational justice and organizational commitment. When a detailed search is done in international literature, it is seen that there are articles which are focused on the subjects that are not focused on in Turkish literature such as “trust”, “leader-member interaction” and “locus of control”. These subjects can be studied by the authors who want to work on “whistleblowing” in future studies in Turkey. Because more than half of the articles are written by 15 authors in a total of 119 authors, revealing out the co-authorship network of the articles in local literature may give a new direction for potential authors who want to study on “whistleblowing” about selecting their co-authors.
