Özet: Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions ofan individual. It is important that individuals make career plans in the fields appropriate to their personal awareness and prefer professions in these areas. Accounting and accountancy profession has gained an important place in the process of globalization both in business life and in the choice of young people. In this context, knowing the factors that affect the selection of students in the accounting department is an important factor in determining their occupational awareness. The aim of this study is to reveal the impact of personal skills and expectations of professional students in the choice of accounting profession. In the research to be carried out within the scope of the study, survey method was used as data collection method. The questionnaire was applied to 81 students studying at the Accounting and Tax Department of Istanbul University and 44 students studying at the Accounting and Tax Applications Department of Nisantasi University. The results of the survey were subjected to factor analysis with SPSS for Windows 24.0 version.  As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the choice of accounting and tax applications program students who participated in the questionnaire was affected by the the thought that a lot of business opportunities are present in accounting area.
