Özet: “Modernity” is a concept often used in social sciences and philosophy, althought its use often has no clear connotation neither rigorous definition. Different voices from Latin America have made substantial contributions to define it, especially the way in which this modernity has been deployed and impacted in our region. As an example, is the “decolonial turn” that has introduced the notion of modernity-coloniality. However, there are latin american contributions that do not enter into this stream of thought, but whose approaches should be brought to discussion and balance. Likewise, attending to the nuestroamerican thought bring the possibility to visualize the modernity from the Eurocentric approach, that is to say from itself, and from a demythologizing perspective.
