Özet: The research explores the case of the indigenous community of Cheran (Mexico) with the objective of analyzing the process of construction of the project of indigenous autonomy on the basis of the principles of community and “from below”. Describes the actions that originated the movement and those undertaken for the establishment of a project based on indigenous law nationally and internationally. Emphasis is made on this last point from the analysis of the projects encountered in indigenous communities as normative systems alternates to the generated by the States. Such exercise of citizenship give account of the existence of opportunities for generation of frameworks in the full respect of the rights of indigenous communities.
