Özet: The aim of the present essay is to offer a characterization of scientific production and its quality from a socio-epistemic perspective, the latter term being understood as the framework between the social aspects of science, as well as those related to the nature of scientific knowledge and the methods used to achieve them. To this end, some definitions of the scientific quality given in the practice of research will first be evaluated, in order to later argue the need for a more comprehensive definition of scientific quality starting from a more dynamic and complex science vision, understanding to the latter more as a social activity than as a mere accumulation of knowledge and methods. It will be concluded by proposing an outline of the scientific quality in which the communication of the research plays a fundamental role, according to the model proposed by Maletta (2009).
