Özet: This article addresses indigenous women´s political participation in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile from a typological perspective. Two main modes of participation are described herein: one centered in ethnic cultural recognition and other oriented towards the politization of ethnicity from a cultural standpoint. Drawing on this, the second part of the analysis problematizes the meanings attributed to “culture” by Indigenous Peoples and the Nation States over the past few decades. As it will be argued, these different approaches set diverse conditions for the exercise of political citizenship by indigenous women. The corpus comprises documentary materials and life stories of Kolla, Aymara, Quechua and Mapuche women collected between 2008 and 2016.
