Özet: The article presents an anthropological approach to gender relations and the artifactual logic in the Escuela del Sur (Taller Torres García) based on some aspects of the career of the Uruguayan Elsa Andrada and the “Augusto Torres and Elsa Andrada Collection” conserved in the artist’s last home in her hometown (currently under the protection of the Museo de Arte Precolombino e Indígena, Montevideo, Uruguay). Throughout the text, the conditions of the entrance and participation of women in the Torres García Workshop, the artifactual logic of the group and its relationship with museums are studied. It is interesting to know how all these aspects are interwoven with a concrete expression of what they understand as the Tradition of Universal Art.
