Özet: Within the group of research on Afro-descendent in Argentina, generally, and in Buenos Aires particularly, the need to reconstruct a multicultural space that does justice to the so-called “third root” of Hispano-America has been emphasized, with greater or less rigor. This means evidence, on the one hand, the importance of trafficking of blacks and the economic role of slavery in the process of Spanish colonization. It implies, on the other hand, an approach to the resistance of African slaves and their descendants through their local organizations and sociocultural contribution, which are part of the multi-ethnic identity spectrum of Argentina today. The present paper therefore proposes an approach to the strategies used by the afroporteños to preserve their culture and achieve their re-humanization, placing them in a broad context of resistance that includes black identity.
