Özet: The present work aims to analyze the contributions of Álvaro García Linera to Latin American political theory, focusing on the concepts of State and transition. For this, the Althusserian idea of “Marxism as a finite theory” is taken as a starting point, that is, the incompleteness of Marxist theory, and therefore, the need to update its categories in the light of historical transformations. At the same time, some theoretical background is presented in which the works of the Vice President of Bolivia are highlighted, among which we highlight mainly the Chilean-German author Norbert Lechner and the Bolivian thinker René Zavaleta Mercado. Those concepts of García Linera in which we will focus on the pages of this work will be those of state two-dimensionality, point(s) of bifurcation and creative tensions.
