Özet: The present article tries to review definitions of discourse, their origin, and purposes of discourse analysis in order to accentuate the point that discourse emphasizes the dialectic relationship between language, community, and politics. It also attempts to show that under the light of discourse theory, it is possible to recognize the effects of language on political and social life of nations.
