Özet: Turkish historiography has long been loyal to the narrative of political history. With the early period of the Republic, it can be said that there has been a change from political historiography to social and economic historiography. The aim of this study is to determine the position of İnalcık on this change in Ottoman studies. While the school of Annales is increasingly influencing Turkish historiography, İnalcık is seen as one of the main actors of this influence. However, the effects of Annales on İnalcık are often mentioned and the historical flow is not maintained. However, new approaches in the field of social sciences are emerging all over the world. World-systems analysis is one of them. İnalcık's contact with world-systems analysis has not been discussed enough in the literature. İnalcik is the name that made this possible for the leading researchers who approached the Ottoman Empire within the framework of world-systems analysis. Historically, İnalcık produced works in a period when Ottoman studies were under the influence of Annales, and thanks to the works he gave, it became possible to examine the Ottoman Empire within the framework of world-systems analysis.
