Özet: The present paper is a study on the effect of the use of information technology on the level of information literacy in student-teachers. The statistical population of this study consists of all students at Shahid Bahonar teacher training center in Birjand. The sample consists of 60 people, randomly divided into a test group and a control group. The apparatus used in this study was the “standard questionnaire of information literacy abilities for further education”. The research method was semi empirical, and a pretest and a post-test were designed and used for the control group. After random selection of the test and control groups, the pretest was first administered for both groups, subjects of the test group underwent the training scenario (test intervention), and subjects of the control group were given regular classroom training. After the training scenario was finished, the post test was given to both groups. The results of the Multivariable Analysis Covariance (MANCOVA) showed that the use of information technology and communications increased each of the information literacy factors (information necessity recognition, navigation, critical assessment abilities, abilities for effective use of information and consideration of legal matters) in subjects of the test group. Considering the findings of this study, it is proposed that this method be used to enhance and improve the level of information literacy among student-teachers as well as other social classes.
