Özet: The main aim of this study to whether the irrational beliefs of mothers’ with a primary school aged child show significant differences according to some variables ( the number of children, educational level, working status, perceived socioeconomic level and monthly household income and reading book frequency). The participants of study consist 88 mothers with a primary school aged children and who are living in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. In order to collect research data, Personal Information form and Parent Irrational Belief Scale was used. Independent sample t-test and one way ANOVA results reveal that there are significant differences between irrational beliefs and perfectionism to child rearing, of mothers with a primary school aged child and their educational level, perceived monthly income and socioeconomic level and book reading frequency. However, there were no significant differences between the expectations of the mother for the relationship of their children,  their perfectionism to child rearing and a number of children and their employment status. In addition, there were no significant differences between the expectations of a mother for the relationship of their children and their educational level, perceived socioeconomic level and monthly household income. The results of the study were discussed with in the context of literature and suggestions was provided for future studies.
