Özet: Metaphor which is a literary term means to use a word, except the real, known meaning of it. Metaphor is used when adding a meaning value to sentence. In addition, it also has a function as adding vitality, beauty and effectiveness to the word. Metaphor, is opposite of the truth. It evokes a sense against the basic meanings of words. In words and idioms that conveys two-ways meaning as metaphor and real; metaphor prevents the real. Due to its structure, Turkish language that enables metaphoric usages. To comprehend the situations that cannot be perceived as its real meaning at early eges is difficult. Texts intended to understanding and usage of metaphor are availabile in Turkish textbooks that are instructing in Second step of Elementary Shools of Turkish Ministry of National Education. In this study, on the basis of texts, metaphor and metaphoric expressions comprehension levels of follawing students will be evaluated.
