Özet: This study is performed for the purpose of investigating whether there is an effect of the use of project-based learning method in Science and Technology lesson on success, attitude and elimination of misconceptions. 42 5th grade students in a primary school in Soma, Manisa constitute the sample group (experimental and control group) of this study. Before the application of the experimental study, open-ended questions as achievement and attitude tests are applied to the experimental and control groups as pre-test and post-test in order to determine the misconceptions. In this research, the class is taught to the experimental group by using project-based learning method and it is taught to the control group by using traditional methods. At the end of the application, the open-ended questions as achievement and attitude tests are applied to the experimental and control group students to observe the changes in students and  to check whether the misconceptions have improved or not. T test is used in the analysis of quantitative data obtained from achievement and attitude tests. According to the analysis results, the increase of the success of the experimental and control groups are compared, there is not a significant statistical difference between the two groups although there is a difference in favour of the experimental group; when the attitudes of the experimental and control groups are compared, the mean of the experimental group is higher than the control group and it is concluded that this difference is statistically significant. The other part of the study related with the elimination of the misconceptions is the qualitative stage of the study. The open-ended questions which are used as a means of gathering data are used in order to determine the misconceptions of the students and the effect on the elimination of the misconceptions at the end of the study. At the end of the study, it is determined that misconceptions are eliminated in the experimental group that is taught through project-based learning compared to the control group.
