Özet: Purpose: The aim is to examine various features of the proceedings presented at the First National Congress on Public Health Nursing and evaluate the transformation of verbal and poster proceedings into publications. Method: The population of this descriptive study consisted of 202 proceedings including 30 verbal proceedings and 172 poster proceedings presented at the First National Congress on Public Health Nursing, which was organized at Ege University between 17-20 June 2015. No sampling selection was used and 108 proceedings were obtained. A Congress book was used for collecting the data. In addition, some information was obtained via the official congress web site. Proceeding lists which were obtained with the help of the congress book and congress web page were provided to the proceeding owners via e-mail and they were asked to fill in the proceeding description forms. On the other hand, the data of the proceeding owners who could not be reached via e-mail were reached using the Google search engine. All the data collected were saved in a Proceeding Introduction Form which was generated by the researchers and evaluated with the SPSS packaged software. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as number, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Results: When examining the proceedings according to their types; it was determined that 84.3% were original researches and 15.7% were reviews and/or other types. When examining the proceedings according to the number of authors, it was seen that studies with two authors 47.2% were mostly presented. 58.3% of the researchers who presented the proceedings stated that they did not receive any feedback that would contribute to the congress studies. 94.4% of the proceedings with single author were written by women. Among the proceedings; 80.6% were posters and 19.4% were verbal proceedings. When examining according to study types, it was seen that 78.6% of the proceedings were from cross-sectional/descriptive articles and 7.5% from reviews. Among 108 proceedings examined within the scope of the study; 46.3% n=50 were transformed into publications. 50% n=25 of the proceedings which were transformed into publications were published in a national-index journal. Publication language was Turkish at the rate of 61.2%. Among the proceedings whose articles were published; 68% were crosssectional/descriptive, 12% review, 10% methodological, 8% experimental/quasi-experimental, and 2% case report. The number of articles that have recently been assigned to the journal to be published was 6 5.6% . Conclusion: It was determined that the proceedings were mainly prepared by a team consisting of 2 or 3 authors, only 41.7% of the authors were able to receive feedback that would contribute to their proceedings, majority of the proceedings were cross-sectional/descriptive and 46.3% of them were transformed into a full-text publication.
