Özet: Air pollution is a major public health risk and problem in our country and world. The annual 4,3 million deaths are attributed to household air pollution and 3,7 million deaths to outdoor air pollution.In this context, by means of prevention and reduction of air pollution, millions of people's health and lives can be saved. Our aim in this study is to present the levels of PM10 and the levels of the elements in its composition; possible air pollution due to these parameters and their sources in Edirne. Also the possible health problems caused by PM10 and the elements in its composition will be determined and solution proposals will be developed and shared with relevant institutions. PM10 values are measured on an hourly basis and PM10 s are collected on a filter paper hourly during measurement in Edirne by Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Air Quality Monitoring Station. The research census is composed by PM10 filter papers collected at the same time interval as PM10 values measured from October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017 in this station. Of our PM10 values per hour; the average number of hours exceeded, the number of days exceeding, the number of days exceeding the daily average, etc. were obtained. The PM10 filter papers are analyzed for 24 elements (Be, B, Na, Mg, Al, K, Ca, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Sr, Mo, Cd, Sb, Ba, Tl, Pb) in TÜTAGEM. In our study, the annual average of PM10 was measured as 44,08 ± 19,8 μg / m3 in Edirne. This value is above 20 μg / m³ which is the annual PM10 limit value of WHO and above 40 μg / m³ which is PM10 limit value of EU. But this value is below PM10 annual limit value of 48 μg / m³ determined for 2017 in our country. PM10 levels measured for 2247 hours of the 8347 hours (29.9% of the total hours measured) exceeded WHO and EU limit values. The PM10 values exceeded the WHO and EU limit values at least once in 259 days of 348 days of measurement (74.4% of the total day of measurement).According to this, the population in Edirne is exposed to pollution of PM10 once every three hours.PM10 values were significantly higher in winter than in summer in terms of average, number of hours exceeding, number of days exceeding the daily average(p <0,05).All 24 elements analyzed were found in PM10 composition. During the sampling days, PM10 and all of the elements in its composition, the ratio of winter season average to summer season average was higher than 1 (p <0,05). As a result, there is air pollution due to PM10 in Edirne. When our country's PM10 limit value is drawn to the WHO and EU limit values, the level of PM10-based pollution increases exponentially. The air pollution caused by PM10 and its elements composition is significantly higher in winter period compared to summer period.
