Özet: The site of the ancient city of Syedra is located approximately 20 km southeast of the district of Alanya in Antalya. It is west of the stream named Sedra, which separates the Pamphylia and Rough Cilicia (Cilicia Trachea) regions. Although this ancient city is sometimes considered part of the Pamphylia and Isauria regions because of its location, the site demonstrates evidence of a culture and form of settlement that more strongly indicates a typical Rough Cilician city. During the Imperial and early Byzantine periods, Syedra was an active player in the trade network between southwest Anatolia and western Cyprus, via its harbour. Late Roman D vessels (4th century AD-late 7th century) are known to have been manufactured by different workshops in geographies within the coverage of this trade network. These vessels constitute the largest red slip ware group discovered in 2019 Syedra-Large Bath excavations. Since there is no archaeometric study that has been done within the scope of this research, the production centers of these vessels cannot be safely named for the time being. Nonetheless, the wide macroscopic variability of the sherds show the existence of several fabrics, most probably associated with different production centers.
