Özet: Episiotomy is the procedure to prevent irregular tearing of the perineum when the perineum is very thin and begins to soften.  Nowadays,  it is the surgical intervention that facilitates the birth stage most commonly used in the first delivery. Inourcountry, more than 65% of all birth soccuring in the hospital and more than 90% of primipares are administered episiotomy. The location of  episiotomy humid and urine and stool is associated  with an  increase in  infection and pain, delayed recovery. Different menthod sand techniquesare used in episiotomy care. How ever, the validity of these method sand applications is discussed. In the study, the knowledge levels of postpartum puerparas on episiotomy care and the lack of standard practice in episiotomy care. If there is  infection, pain, discharge, edema, burning and redness in the episiotomy line, midwives should be consulted . Turkey Demographic and Health Survey, 74% of women in our country according to the 2013 report shows they receive their first postpartum care within the first four hours. But it is thought to be inadequate.   It is recommended that health personnel should provide perineal care trainings before discharge and monitor the process during postpartum period.
