Özet: : Breast milk is the best nutrition which includes all nutritional elements for babies. Breast milk has sufficient amount of oil, water, vitamin and ferro. World Health Organization (WHO) recommends breastfeeding immediately after birth, feeding only with breastfeeding for the first 6 months, and breastfeeding after 6 months with additional food up to 2 years of age. It is known that babies who take breast milk are more resistant to diseases such as diarrhea, asthma, diabetes and cancer and mental development is better in these babies. Even then, according to the Lansinoh 2017 International Breastfeeding Survey data, the rate of breast-feeding between 0-3 months in Turkey is 7%, in Germany is 23%, in Brazil 12% and in France is 33%. The role of midwifes is to inform the mother about breast-feeding from pregnancy and to help the mother in breastfeeding. In this article, the effects of breast milk on baby health and midwifery responsibilities will be shared.
