Özet: Nowadays, foreign Language teaching is built on the equivalent development of 4 basic skills that we describe as reading, writing, speaking and listening. In accordance with this, the textbooks are also prepared based on the 4 basic skills. One of the first requirements to be successful at all 4 skills is to have a good vocabulary. No matter how successful learn activities are included, it will be always controversial if the competence of a textbook is inadequate in terms of the words that are estimated by the relevant language level. Therefore, one of the basic measures to be considered in the selection of the textbook must also be a vocabulary. With this study, the answer to the question how many of the words that are included in Sicher! B1+ Kursbuch textbook reading texts are compatible with the vocabulary in B1 language level to be possessed is sought. The words in the 13 reading texts and the related learn exercises within the book in question were listed one by one and later on compared with the B1 word list published by the Goethe-Institution. And thus, the words in the reading texts in the book were determined to match and mismatch with the list in question.
