Özet: This study aimed to examine the tools and materials used in the primary, secondary, and elementary school social studies curricula that were implemented from 1924 to 2018. For this purpose, the social studies curricula from 1924 to 2018, including primary school (1924, 1930, 1936, 1948, 1962, 1968, 1971), secondary school (1931-1932, 1938, 1949), and elementary education (1998, 2005, 2018) were examined by the document analysis method. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. Taken together, the results of the study showed that a remarkably small number of materials was included in the syllabi of courses that addressed social studies subjects in the early years of the Republic, while the number and variety of materials in the social studies curricula have increased as we approach the present day. With the 1968 social studies curriculum, the number of tools and materials used in the lesson increased. It is possible to say that the use of tools and materials decreased with the 1998 elementary school social studies curriculum but later increased with the effect of the constructivist approach that underlined the basis of the 2005 social studies curriculum. The number of materials in the 2018 social studies curriculum, which is still implemented today, has decreased compared to the previous curriculum.
