Ortaokul 7. ve 8. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Sosyal Duyarlılık Düzeylerini Belirlemeye Yönelik Nicel Bir Çalışma: Alanya Örneği

Özet: This study was prepared to determine the social sensitivity levels of secondary school students. 136 secondary school students studying in public and private schools in Alanya in 2018-2019 Academic Year, participated to study. The research was conducted as a descriptive study in the survey model and the data were analyzed as descriptively. Social Sensitivity Scale, developed by Öcal, Demirkaya and Altınok (2013) and whose validity and reliability calculated, was used for data collection. With the social sensitivity scale, the students were asked to rate their views on issues such as environment, health, education, human rights in five-point Likert type as “unimportant”, “less important”, “sometimes important”, “important”, “very important’’. According to the results, it was determined that 7th grade students were more sensitive to social problems than 8th grade students. It was also determined that female students were more sensitive to both individual problems and social problems than male students. Another finding is that children with a monthly average income of 1500 TL or less are more sensitive to individual problems than children with a monthly average income of more than 4000 TL. In addition, the education level of their parents, how many siblings they have, and the frequency of following news may have positive and negative effect on the social sensitivity of the students towards individual and social problems. The data obtained as a result of the research were evaluated by discussing other studies on the subject.
