Özet: In this study it was examined the textbook taught during the Ottoman State’s Second Constitutional Monarchy period where an array of societal and educational radical changes and innovations took place. In order to undestand the geography education in this period a sample texbook that taught in Ottoman junior high schools which was written by İbn Nüzhet Cevat Bey is analysed. With the textbook titled “Mapped and Illustrated Geography” it is aimed to give information about the content and presentation of geography textbooks. This book translated into Turkish as “Haritalı ve Resimli Genel Coğrafya” is important becuase it was prepared for students studying in Ottoman junior high schools taking into account age cohort. In the study qualitative approach utilised and the data gathered examined through content analysis. A researcher translated this book that can be found on internet. The researcher collaborating with a history education academic analysed the accuracy of the translation of the book and classified it for content analysis. In the study, the content analysis of the textbook conducted according to the criteria of the Turkish Education Board.
