Özet: The aim of this study is to examine prospective teachers' perceptions of the effective teacher training role of social studies course. In the research, scanning model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The research was carried out with 400 teacher candidates studying in İnönü University, Faculty of Education, primary education classroom and social studies teachers during the 2018-2019 academic year. "Effective Citizenship Scale" was used in the study. Displaying the collected test SPSS v25.0 package program was analyzed with arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t test and one-way ANOVA test. The study did not share a meaningful quotation on the effect of teacher candidates' knowledge, skills, values, social studies and course knowledge on effective citizen raising. Classroom and social studies teacher candidates have similar perceptions about the role of social studies course in raising effective citizens. It is a time when the complex solution of the individuals we live in is intertwined. It is where the knowledge of the lesson is taught in schools to educate young citizens who can find solutions to these difficulties. The current education, know-how and current education of our age can be learned to prospective teachers who will teach this course.
