Özet: Although social sciences is a concept that emerged in our recent history, it has arisen from the need to know oneself and the society in which one lives in order to know and realize oneself. History teaching has an important place in order to develop knowledge and experiences within the framework of the development of human and society.The aim of this study is to evaluate the importance of sycamore tree as a monumental tree in Turkish culture in order to teach Turkish history and culture effectively and to determine the sycamore motif in Haluk Dursun's works and to transfer these values ​​to future generations. The research was conducted in 2019.The research was conducted through document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. Content analysis was used for data analysis. When the Turkish history is examined, it is revealed that the elements of nature and the tree are an important element in the life of the Turkish community depending on the lifestyle and beliefs of the Turks.In Turkish society, as a symbol of eternity and continuity, which is the symbol of eternity and continuity of trees, people and clan, holy trees are generally attributed to the singular trees in order to represent the one God and to reach Him instead of forest or tree communities.As a result of this value that is put on the tree in Turkish society and belief, it is important to identify the monumental trees that shed light on our history and culture in our cultural geography and to transfer them to the future. In this monumental tree, the plane tree stands out in terms of being a symbol of sovereignty for many years and acting as a bridge between past, present and future.In the context of the effective teaching of our history and culture to future generations, it should be ensured that generations learn this history and culture by seeing, feeling and having a conversation. As a result of this, determination of these values ​​in our cultural geography, preservation and transfer to young generations is of great importance.
