Özet: Changeover times are the most important loss type for manufacturing companies. SMED methodology is often used to reduce the loss of setup. However, due to the fact that factor effects are not taken into account in the studies, it limits the effectiveness of the study results. The aim of the study is to determine a method that will decrease the intensity levels of the factors affecting the changeover time. For this purpose, unit setup times have been improved by applying SMED methodology in a production line. In the continuation of SMED application, Taguchi Experimental Design was used to determine factor effects. Improvement studies have been carried out to reduce the effects of the identified factors. The effectiveness of the study was compared with SMED Taguchi based method and traditional SMED application according to one month production plan. According to the results, a further 216 minutes improvement was achieved with the proposed method.
