Özet: This article examines the names of the three Sunan books of Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmid̲h̲ī, and al-Nasāʾī by stating purposes of publishing and conditions. Then, the claims about the superiority of one of these books over the others and the reasons for these claims are discussed. It is tried to determine in which region the claims about the superiority of each book are more common and the scholars who played an essential role in the spread of this view. Finally, we will examine the jarh and ta'dil (disparaging and declaring trustworthy) status of the teachers whom the authors of the three books used in their books. In addition, we compare the numbers of the narrators in the books mentioned above whom Ibn Hajar disparaged them. In this way, not only a theoretical but also a practical comparison will be made based on the jarh and ta'dil status of the teachers and the status of the generality of the narrators in the isnads. After reaching the status of jarh and ta'dil of all the teachers of the authors of the mentioned works, it has been determined, according to Ibn Hajar's classification system, that the teachers of Imam al-Nasāʾī are the most reliable, with no criticized teacher among them. According to the same findings, in terms of reliability, the teachers of Abū Dāwūd in second and the teachers of Tirmid̲h̲ī are in third place.
