Özet: Melon fly [Myiopardalis pardalina (Bigot, 1891) (Diptera: Tephritidae)] is the most important pest of the melons (Cucumis melo L.) (Cucurbitaceae : Violales). The larvae cause to damage as feeding in seed cavity. Also, the melon tissues damaged by larvae and the colour turn brown and spread occurring in melon scent, taste and aroma of melon is disrupted. Some data related to biological parameters of melon fly which causes to important damages in melon were obtained natural conditions with this study. The studies on the larva, pupa, adult stages and generation number of the pest were done in Kazan (Ankara) district which is one of the most melon grown areas in 2009 - 2010. It was determined that melon fly gives two generations in Ankara conditions. The generation durations (From egg to adult) changed between 36.20 and 38.67 days, respectively. Adult life was also determined for females and males 15 - 22 days and 10-16 days in nature, respectively. Egg and larval duration was found to be between 15.5 – 17.33 days in nature. It was determined that preoviposition durations changed between 2 - 6 days, oviposition durations changed between 11 - 18 days and postovipositon changed between 1 - 3 days in nature. Melon fly pupal period was determined as 19.40 - 21.67 days. As a result of two year studies, melon fly showed the ability of being pupae in soil of 1 - 2 cm to 15 - 16 cm in depth and it was determined that it preferred mostly the first 6 cm of soil. With the cage studies of melon fly, first adult was observed at 5th July, 2010, the adult emerging continued until 25th July and it became intense between 5 to 15 of July.
