Özet: Today, societies are in a process of change. One of the most significant results of this change that is observed in every area is the urbanization. The cities have obtained new properties in terms of economic, social, cultural, structural and ecological aspects with the urbanization which is the result of the changes and restructuring process. This process causes radical changes in the appearance of the cities. In Turkey, with the “modernism” process, there have been some developments in varied areas, such as industry, agriculture, technology, transportation, communications etc. and these developments have led people to cities due to different reasons. However, Turkey, which was unable to develop and modernize in the strict sense according to modernism standards, has encountered many problems in the cities, as it has started to urbanize faster than the economic growth rate. Therefore, Turkey has had to face with the problems of the society which is “non-urbanized” and “failed to urbanize” in the cities.
