Özet: Resolutions are official decisions of the UN Security Council. These decisions are often called as “Council decision” in the Turkish literature. Although the concept of resolution has a limited area of use in Turkish literature, this use is preferred in order not to be confused with other official decisions of the Council. Resolutions adopted since the establishment of the Council may differ in quantity and quality in certain periods. However, there are some issues common to every resolution. The preparation and voting phases, structures, sections and the expressions used in them can be counted as common features. It is essential to know these common features of resolutions in order for understanding and interpreting them correctly. These issues accepted common to each resolution have been frequently studied in the Western literature. However, most researches in the Turkish literature are about the bindingness of the resolutions. There are no specific studies to understand resolutions in that way. This study aims to analyse the resolutions in a didactic way through the above mentioned features in order to help researchers in the field.
