Özet: Up to the eighteenth century, Mediterranean was the center of gravity of the world economy and the Ottoman Empire was the dominance of the eastern Mediterranean geography. There was an important raw material richness brought about by having a wide geography. Therefore, it was necessary to having domestic and foreign trade and also exchange system. This aspect of the Ottoman economy, which gives the image of “scarce supply, demand plenty” or “cheap and rich source of raw materials” which, has directed the attention of foreign states to the Ottoman geography of every continent. Raw cotton, tobacco, wool, yarn, mohair, roots, flax seeds, oak, figs, grapes, leather, dried fruits and cereals were taking the lead among the Ottoman products that were exported to Europe. France, which was the most influential power among the European states in Eastern Mediterranean transport, has entered into widespread wars after the 1789 Revolution, and it has taken time to recover from the external relations of the country. While the Marseille had the strongest economic relations network with the Eastern Mediterranean geography, the siege of ports by British navy broke the ties between the East Mediterranean and Marseille. When the Napoleonic Wars came to an end (1815), the influence of France in the Ottoman markets declined; Ports of Livorno, Trieste and Genoa assumed the role of Marseille port. When the period that Europe is engaged in wars and groupings, Austria, Russia and also minority Greeks in the Ottoman Empire, began to stand out in the Ottoman markets towards the end of the eighteenth century. While Ottoman Greeks got great wealth while carrying cereals and other kinds of food to the French and Italian ports under the embargo, some of the Greeks had begun to enter foreign country protection in order to get more benefit from the blessings of international trade
