Özet: Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is an inflammatory disease which characterized by shoulder and pelvic girdle pain in the elderly. One of the important disease of advanced age, and also there are difficulties in the diagnosis as well as the treatment. Etiopathogenesis is unknown but genetic and environmental factors have been blamed. There is not a test specific to the disease. The diagnose is made with clinical findings, elevated acute phase reactants and other diseases to be distinguished. Steroids are used in the treatment and the dramatic response to steroids is indicated as a diagnostic criterion. It is aimed to discuss the difficulties in diagnosis and treatment of a 64-year-old female patient, who undergoing hemodialysis because of chronic renal failure, diagnosed PMR after atypical shoulder and hip joint pain.
