Özet: The concept of social memory and political opposition is shaped by verbal and written culture in a society. For this reason, it is useful to look at the historical background of a society that determines its opposition tradition and shapes its social memory before focusing on the phenomenon of opposition on any subject. In this regard, when the social events are investigated, all kinds of words, stories, stories, legends, in short everything about the narrative that make up a movement in the society is covered by the verbal culture that forms social memory. The elements of verbal culture, when used correctly has the ability to change the fate of nations. People who can use these elements in the name of the good of society can bring society together through these elements in times of crisis. As a result of the political cultural elements in the social memory, Turkey society has remained away from the tradition of opposition. This result can be easily deduced from the meaning of the political word in his social memory. According to this, “in the old language policy means the death penalty imposed by state decisions”. This is proof that Turkish social memory affects the political opposition.
