Özet: The Internet is being used both in workplace and educational settings extensively with the aim of providing significant opportunities to communicate, to conduct research, to manage bank accounts, to share information, to reduce expense costs, etc. Consequently, the internet has taken its place in schools after computers. However, with the use of the Internet in educational settings, certain inappropriate behaviors emerge. The act of using the Internet for non-educational purposes by the students during the course hours is defined as cyberloafing (Kalaycı, 2010). The purpose of this study is to reveal the causes of cyberloafing from students' perspective. For this purpose, a qualitative case study was designed. Semi-structured interviews and observations were the main sources of data collection process. As a result of the study, students conceded doing cyberloafing, but they stated that it's not an acceptable behavior. The proposed causes by the students for cyberloafing can be described in five themes: motivational, goal settings, teacher, environment and time related.
