Özet: The amount of industrial raw materials used by a society is an indicator of the level of development of that society. The calcite having a chemical structure of CaCO3,i s used as fillers and coating materials in many sectors such as construction, paint, paper and plastics industry after being grinded and micronized. The purest and whitest calcite formations of Turkey are situated in Niğde city. The calcite mines in the Niğde Massif are located in the Gümüşler Formation. The region has very large reserves of industrial raw materials. Open pit production method is applied and the total number of employee in the sector ranges from approximately 1600- 1700. The materials produced by 18 different private companies are marketed domestically and internationally. In this study, contemporary land rehabilitation modules are disclosed in order to develop solutions to sectoral problems by considering economic and environmental dimensions of calcite mines operating in Niğde.
