Özet: This study is aimed to investigate different aggregate resources widely used as aggregate in Nigde region and to determine problems in aggregate resources. For investigations Kızılırmak sand, Kırüstü deposits, Kırgeçit river deposits with Başmakçı limestone and andesitic and basaltic lavas of Melendiz volcanictes were used. Aggregates gained from river deposits were described as single groups. Volcanic aggregates source were studied within eleven groups according to their composition and texture. According to the evaluations, samples belonging to basaltic aggregates having comparatively higher strength than samples belonging to deposit aggregates. Especially, samples belonging to Melendiz volcanites having low porosity, less microfracture, higher hardness and strength are suitable as aggregate for many purposes. However, the samples belonging to Kızılırmak sands and Melendiz volcanites which have high SiO2 content are risky materials from the point of view alkali-silica reaction. Therefore, they are more suitable as asphalt aggregate, embankment material and railway ballast.
