Özet: AA6063 aluminium alloy has been widely used due to its combined properties as lightness, mechanical strength, and corrosion resistance. Especially, precipitation hardening process enhances the mechanical properties of the aluminium alloys. Also, precipitation hardening process reduces the corrosion resistance of the aluminium alloys. In this study, aging treatments are applied to AA6063 aluminium alloy at 200˚C for 2, 4 and 8 hours and corrosion behaviour of aged samples is investigated in H2SO4 solutions with various H2SO4 ratio (2%, 4%, 6%). Corrosion behavior of the specimens is determined by measuring the weight loss. Moreover, the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties is investigated with hardness measurements. As a result of the corrosion tests, it is determined that the corrosion rate increases as the aging time increase, especially the sample aged for 8 hours has the greater corrosion loss in the solution containing 6% H2SO4.
