Özet: Warehouses are the structures where the goods are preserved and they need to be established in strategical points logistically. One of the warehouses which are classified according to their fields of activity is hazardous material warehouses. Hazardous materials are the substances that endanger the human health, the safety of people and the natural environment because of their structures. Considering these dangers, it is crucial that those materials are preserved under proper circumstances in appropriate places. In this study, a selection of a location for the warehouse of hazardous materials is made regarding the importance of the problem. Because there are several criteria that affect the selection of the warehouse location for hazardous materials and these criteria conflict with each other, methods of multi criteria decision-making are used in this study. Four places in the city of Kırıkkale are evaluated considering their strategical location. Selection of the appropriate location for the warehouse is aimed by taking the 4 main criteria and 9 sub-criteria into the consideration and by using the methods of analytic hierarchy and the analytic network processes. As a result, it is concluded that hazardous materials should be preserved in the second district. This study contributes to the literature as it compares the methods of analytic hierarchy and the analytic network processes for the selection of the warehouse location for hazardous materials for the first time.
