Özet: A book is an important and effective stimulant tool which effects the development of the preschool children. The most effective books which are very important for the preschool education children are the fairy tales. Fairy tales are magical worlds where there are extraordinary events and heroes and which introduce children colorful countries.This thesis is done for the aim of searching the effects and the qualities of the fairy tale books which are on children literature of children development. The thesis is done by searching the twenty seven fairy tale books which have been published by publishing companies on the type of preschool between 1994 and 2015 and are still on the shelves of the preschools aged 5 to 6. When the information which is stated on the written sources by the researches is examined, the effects and the qualities of the fairy tale books are observed in terms of children literature criteria and children development. At the end of the survey, it is seen that the positive effects of the fairy tale books have an important role for the developmental process as well as having negative effects. In the direction of these observations, with the results of the facts of their positive and negative effects, the precautions are stated in the result part by indicating how fairy tale books influence the preschool children aged 5 to 6 emotionally and behaviorally. Moreover, it has been realised that a newborn need for fairy tale writing which is suitable for children literature rules, children psychology criteria, and today’s conditions is necessary
