Özet: The aim of this study is examining the attitudes of the adults living in the central district in Mardin toward seeking psychological help and examining the relationship between the variables that are the intention of seeking psychological help, age, gender, education level, fear of treatment. Research sample is formed by 205 adults including 100 women and 105 men residing in the central district in Mardin province. In this study four measuring tool which are “Personal Information Form”, “Psychological Help Attitude Scale”, “Intention Inventory Related To Psychological Help” and “Thoughts Scale About Psychotherapy”. Data obtained in this study were analyzed by 21.0 Statistical Package for Social Sciences Program (SPSS). At the end of this research, the intention of seeking psychological help, attitudes toward seeking psychological help and thoughts about psychotherapy of those surveyed are found to be intermediate level. There is a positive relationship between the attitude of seeking psychological help and the intention of seeking psychological help. According to this; the intention of seeking psychological help increases and at the same time, attitudes toward seeking psychological help increase, too. There is not any relationship between the treatment fear and the attitude of seeking psychological help. Attitudes toward seeking psychological help affect the intention of seeking psychological help positively. The intention of seeking psychological help and thoughts about psychotherapy show differences according to age and gender. While the attitudes toward seeking psychological help do not vary by gender and education, they vary according to age and while the age is increasing, attitudes toward seeking psychological help are increasing, too
