Özet: Islam’s legal codes do not allow interest based financial applications at all; therefore, the alternative financial products developed in Islamic countries recently. One of these products is, also known as interest-free alternative insurance model, takaful. Conventional insurance instuitions’ collect funds from consumers and mostly invest them in the interest based financial markets. This fact increases religionist consumers’ doubts about the insurance products. Most of the Islamic jurists claims, majority of the conventional insurance products do not suitable with Islamic law. However, this approach does not change the simple fact that most of the time Muslims’ need insurance coverage. This need created an alternative interest-free market and rapidly spreaded in both Islamic countries and some western states where Muslims resides. Turkish market is considered one of the emerging Islamic nation; even so, interestfree insurance products are newly introduced. Therefore, public awareness needs to be measured for future projection.
