Özet: The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors as the primary that affect the continuity of marriage in American society. The structure of the family, its continuity and factors influencing its persistence are among the primary issues that have become important particularly in recent years, since the family is one of the most crucial institutions transforming the society. Many studies conducted on this subject in the USA are centered specifically on the question “what are the factors affecting the stability of marriage?” These studies indicate that many important changes and some transformations spontaneously taking place in social life also influence this structure. This study is conducted to identify how certain elements, which affect the continuity of the family and cause divorce, are defined in the USA. In the study, the literature is reviewed and the impact of certain factors age at first marriage, status of children, education level, religious and regional influence, gender roles, race and number of marriage on the formation of family, its continuity and dissolution is examined. This study strives to be a reference within the framework of subjects on family and the factors influencing the family, which are among the most important issues of our day
