Özet: Energy that has key position in terms of economy is priced not only according to demand supply conditions. On the other hand, change in energy prices has important effects on countries’ macroeconomic variables like growth, current deficit, inflation and interest rate. This study aims to examine the relation between world oil prices and interest rate for Turkish Economy in the period of 1980-2014 by using VAR analysis. Empirical results show that there is no long term relationship between variables. Impulse-response analysis indicates that increase in oil prices causes an increase in interest rates
