Özet: This article will primarily focus on – with reference to the main characteristic of Turkish secularization- the political meaning of recitation of Turkish translation of ezan, call for prayers, for eighteen years. For this sake the difference between the meanings of säkularisierung making secular and säkularisation secularization will be clearified. Then major factors that differentiate Sunni Islam, the target of Turkish secularization, from the Catolicisim, the target of Western secularization, will be explained and the distinctive characteristics of Turkish secularization will be revealed. In conclusion, the article claims that although it is different from the Catholic experience Islam in the Turkish case experienced a secularization through the religious sign and symbols such as the recitation of Turkish translation of ezan
