Özet: The existence of vital issues related to national security and defense is bringing back defense spending and economic impacts every time. These debates have two important questions: How much should an individual's defense expenditure be? Which resources can separate it? It is not easy to give the answer to these questions in terms of Turkey. Indeed, the geopolitical importance that it possesses requires a precise and careful political and military policy with all of Turkey's neighbors. Turkey has the advantages and obligations it has as a NATO member, which has had to endure additional burdens due to the arms embargo it has faced before because of the Cyprus problem. Moreover, due to the long-term anti-terrorism program, the defense needs for Turkey and the sacrifices required to meet this need can be found at a very high level. However, in order to reach a modern and developed economic structure, Turkey has to use the available resources in the best way to reach the level of contemporary civilization. For these purposes, a theoretical discussion on the level of defense spending in this study will be made.
