Özet: The number of foreign students studying at undergraduate and postgraduate level in our country is increasing day by day. Foreign students continue their education in their own departments after studying in Turkish Teaching Centers for one year. However, it is quite difficult for students to reach the level that will effectively use their four basic language skills in this one year period. Students have difficulty in gaining their narrative skills. When the studies in the literature are examined, it is seen that most of the foreign students have problems in using writing skills. Especially students who are graduate students are expected to read and understand academic texts and produce their own academic texts on original subjects, but it is known that students both have difficulty in using basic writing skills and cannot reach the desired level in academic writing. Therefore, it is imperative that students who are going to study at undergraduate and postgraduate level receive a separate education in academic writing. In this study, the problems of academic writing in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners with the point of view of lecturers working at Sakarya University Turkish Teaching Center and suggestions for solutions to these problems are discussed. The method of the study was determined as phenomenology and interview technique was used as data collection tool. When the data were analyzed, it was seen that the students who learn Turkish as a foreign language faced different problems in the academic writing education process. It is possible to express these problems as problems arising from students, problems arising from the textbook and material, and problems arising from the measurement and evaluation system.
