Özet: Given today’s population growth, migration from abroad and terrorist attacks, we cannot deny the need for private security. However, it would be more accurate to define the characteristics that this security unit should have within the framework of the quality of training and the continuity of this training. The provision of security has been developed and directed in direct proportion to the development of technology and science. In practice, individuals and states have and continue to try to secure people’s lives and help create a more peaceful living space through different methods. Ensuring security is indirectly the responsibility of the general law enforcement agencies. Private security guards, who provide security and work in places outside the duties of general law enforcement forces, are an important element. Pursuant to Articles 33 and 34 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Private Security Services, private security officers who will be employed or serving in air and sea ports and whose private security identity card has been renewed must be given air and sea port security courses in addition to the drug knowledge course. In order to explain the status of private security education in Turkey, it was aimed to determine the current status of “drug information”, “air/sea port security” and “terrorism/terrorism” courses when the course programs of private security training institutions providing basic private security education and universities providing education at the level of private security and protection associate degree programs were examined. This research was designed in document analysis technique, one of the qualitative research designs.
