Özet: Aim: The aim of this study is to be investigated of participation motivation for E-sports of individuals doing E-sports for recreational purposes. Method: A total of 250 individuals, 34 (13.6%) women and 216 (86.4%) men, participated in the study voluntarily. The E-Sports Participation Motivation Scale (ECMS) developed by Öz and Üstün (2019) and a socio-demographic information form consisting of 7 questions were used to collect the data. As a model, the relational screening model was used. The data were analyzed in SPSS 25.0 package programs. Descriptive statistical calculations (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation), Mann-Whitney U test for independent variables with 2 variables, Kruskall-Wallis H test for variables with 3 or more were used. The significance level was taken as p<0.05. Findings: According to gender variable, a significant difference has been found in favor of female participants only in competence sub-dimension. Conclusion: Gender (except for the competence sub-dimension), educational status, region of residence, monthly income level, personal device ownership status, preferred digital device and preferred game type have not been considered to be effective in participation motivation for e-sports.
